Overview

Throughout his career, Dennis’ practice has been motivated by his passion to help people. He works with a wide variety of individuals in every walk and era of life – each with the desire to utilize earnings and wealth as a means to build a better life for themselves and their families. Dennis’ primary goal is to build lasting relationships to help individuals define and work towards securing their future, whatever life may bring.

Dennis began his career in financial services in 1991, during a time of significant change in the industry. With tax code reform and the adoption of individual retirement accounts and the 401(k) plan, the way people looked at investing, estate planning strategies, retirement planning, and tax planning strategies was changing. As an undergraduate at Grove City College, Dennis studied the emerging holistic methods, crafting financial case studies as part of his coursework. He enjoyed the gratification of building paths toward financial security, and determined that it was not only numbers that influenced sound financial choices, but also people and their unique circumstances.

Education

After graduating with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance, Dennis joined Cigna Financial Advisors; unusual at that time, the firm’s practice was based on holistic financial planning and provided Dennis with continued education and the opportunity to build long-term relationships with his clients. Keeping pace with the evolving field of finance, Dennis added the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM (CFP®) Designation to his credentials to better serve clients’ needs. Dennis works extensively with retiring teachers and administrators who are participants in the Pennsylvania State Employees Retirement System (PSERS).

Personal Life

Dennis and his wife, Michele, are longtime residents of Moon Township, Pennsylvania, and they attend St. James Church in Sewickley. Their daughter, Natalie, pursues her degree in physical therapy at Saint Francis University. Matthew, their son, attends Moon Township High School and will soon graduate and start college. The Spanglers are actively involved in soccer with both Natalie and Matthew playing, and the whole family has traveled the U.S. extensively for college and cup team matches. Despite his family’s hectic schedule, Dennis makes time for regular pick-up games and events with other fathers of Moon students, and he enjoys golfing and going hunting each year.

Ryan’s passion for financial planning began with a question: Why do some people achieve financial security, while others struggle to maintain their quality of life?  What choices and actions make the difference?  Ryan graduated in 2002 from Susquehanna University with his Bachelor of Science in Business Finance and immediately put his knowledge to work, creating financial plans for his family and friends.  Recommendations from satisfied clients soon provided Ryan the opportunity to work with many different individuals, professionals, and businesses throughout the United States, giving him great satisfaction in being a relevant and trusted resource for his clients’ financial needs.

Since creating those initial financial plans, Ryan’s financial career continues to be based on the principle and practice of cultivating client relationships for the long term.  Understanding that all clients’ needs evolve over a lifetime, Ryan has built adaptability and sustainability into a comprehensive personal financial services practice.  As co-owner and founding partner of DSF Wealth Management Group, LLC, Ryan has built a team of financial and support professionals who share in his belief of educating people to make well-informed financial decisions.

Keeping pace with clients’ needs and the changing field of finance, Ryan is continuously learning; he has added the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM (CFP®) Designation to his credentials, the Chartered Financial Consultant TM (ChFC®) Designation, and the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) Designation.  For Ryan, outstanding financial service means providing clients with pertinent and timely information, empowering them to make informed decisions for their personal financial plans.

Enabling others to have a better tomorrow continues to be Ryan’s motivation as he meets new people and learns their individual needs and dreams.  His goal, always, is to educate them to plan and act today to work toward achieving their better tomorrow.

Outside of work, Ryan and his wife, Valerie, maintain a busy household in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.  Their children, Dante (11) and Ella (9), attend elementary school and are involved in multiple sports throughout the year. Ryan volunteers as den leader for Dante’s Cub Scout pack, and cheers Ella on at her gymnastics and ice hockey practices. Valerie and Ryan regularly attend the South Hills Bible Chapel. They also spend time chasing their Red Lab, Millie, around the yard when the Pittsburgh weather cooperates!

An avid competitive golfer, Ryan qualified and competed in the prestigious 102nd United States Amateur Championship in 2002, held at the South Course of Oakland Hills, Michigan. Ryan still enjoys competing in amateur golf events for the Pennsylvania and West Penn Golf Associations. He also enjoys hunting and working out at the gym with friend and fellow financial adviser, Kyle Kyper, in the winter months.

Teaching & Coaching

As a first-year undergrad at Waynesburg University, Kyle envisioned his professional career in teaching or coaching. It was during a finance class that Kyle gained hands-on investment and trading experience in Waynesburg’s Student Trading Room. The exercise showed Kyle that the real-life applications of finance were a means for him to both teach and coach, building relationships beyond a single semester or season. He immediately set about making the classroom experience real by researching financial questions for family and friends, investing his personal savings, and by founding and acting as President of the Student Investment Club. Kyle graduated from Waynesburg with his Masters in Business Administration, ready to educate in the field of financial planning.

Cultivating Relationships

After graduation, Kyle spent time as a Representative for Liberty Mutual Insurance, where he was recognized for his excellent client service, but felt that assisting people with their insurance planning was only one facet of the dynamic, long-term relationships he might develop with clients. As a financial advisor, Kyle knew he would be able to do more to help his clients to plan for their financial security, regardless of where they might be in their financial journey. He joined the team at DSF Wealth Management Group, LLC in 2013 and has focused on building a comprehensive financial services practice by cultivating client relationships for the long term, while setting a standard of service that inspires clients to approach their financial planning as a lifestyle and tradition, rather than a chore.

Building Tradition

Building tradition represents an important part of Kyle’s professional practice, as well as his personal life. He and his wife, Carly, live in Scott Township, but still maintain their connection to Waynesburg, where they first met. Kyle spent several years after graduation as an Assistant Coach for the football team and returned to the classroom as a professor for the Business Department. He added the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM (CFP®) Designation to his credentials in 2017 as part of his own continuing education.

Kyle is a member at Chartiers Country Club in Pittsburgh and plays in a number of amateur golf tournaments each year with friends, clients, and colleagues. He and Carly attend the South Hills Bible Chapel, where they are actively involved, and Kyle also mentors at-risk youth through the BRIDGE Community Outreach Program. Kyle includes time at the gym with workout partner and DSF colleague, Ryan Franks, and travels with Carly throughout the year to visit family, friends, and bucket list destinations.

In every encounter we either give life or we drain it; there is no neutral exchange. — Brennan Manning

Overview

Steve’s passion for helping people is evident in every aspect of his life. Those who know him will quickly tell you about his relentless energy, positivity, and love for others. By focusing this energy on goals and relationships, Steve has turned improbable situations into positive life experiences, both personally and professionally.

Before Joining DSF

If your dream in high school was to play professional football, and you weren’t recruited by a college team, you might think that it was time to set that dream aside, right? Steve didn’t see it that way. As a freshman at Northern Michigan University, he walked on and secured a position as running back. By his second semester of college he was awarded a full scholarship and went on to break the school’s all-time career rushing record. Later, he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2005. After graduation, he faced another challenge when he went undrafted by the NFL. Again, his passion and grit served him well and he started in the NFL as a free agent playing for the Houston Oilers. The highlight of his 8-year NFL career was his appearance in Super Bowl XXX as a member of the 1995 AFC Champion Pittsburgh Steelers. The unlikely dream became a memorable era of Steve’s life and career.

After retiring from the NFL, Steve turned his energy to helping others work toward achieving their goals and dreams. First, as a representative at AIG, Steve developed solutions for financial advisors to help their clients protect and grow their investments, but Steve wondered if he might make an even greater impact on people’s lives by becoming a financial advisor himself. His passion for building relationships and inspiring others led him to join the team at DSF Wealth Management group, LLC (DSF).

Education

Steve has earned his Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), Certified Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®), and Certified Fund Specialist (CFS®) designations, and he consults primarily with individuals and families, developing customized financial plans. When he delivered his first financial plan and saw the look in his client’s eyes, he knew that he had made the right choice. As a financial advisor at DSF, working directly with clients preparing for their retirement goals, Steve’s purpose and passion align perfectly with enabling others to live a better tomorrow. Steve’s mission is to help as many people as possible work toward financial independence and the life that they dream of for themselves and their families.

Personal Life

Outside of work, nothing is as important to Steve as his faith and family. He and his wife, Sandy, have 4 children: Sophia, Olivia, John, and Judah. The Averys are very involved in their church and have taken several mission trips, most recently to Madagascar and Uganda. Steve enjoys music – primarily playing drums, but also guitar and piano – and motivational speaking, including sharing his message of pursuing dreams with passion.

Caleb’s Purpose

“Regardless of whatever I do, I know what my purpose is: to make a difference in people’s lives.” - Tim Tebow

Caleb has a passion for working with others to help them achieve their goals, both personally and professionally. Growing up, Caleb watched a few members of his family endure financial struggles due to a lack of financial education and knowledge. This experience led Caleb to pursue a life where he can work alongside others, empowering them with the resources and education needed to accomplish their financial goals and to address their financial concerns.

Caleb’s Education and Background

Caleb attended Juniata College in Central Pennsylvania where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Financial Economics with a minor in Politics. His education included coursework in accounting, economics, and portfolio management, but he quickly realized that financial planning went beyond the numbers. In his free time, Caleb began studying behavioral economics to better understand the psychology behind investing. Through his study, he discovered that family, friends, and surroundings significantly shape a person’s views regarding money. Caleb believed that this perspective was largely neglected in the field of financial planning and that this was an area where he could make an impact.

Caleb joined DSF Wealth Management Group, LLC as a Financial Advisor which will allow him to fulfill his life’s purpose of working to make a difference in other people’s lives.  He has successfully obtained his Series 7 and Series 66 security licenses, along with his Pennsylvania Life Accident and Health Insurance license. Caleb realizes that developing a personalized financial plan starts with understanding the client.  He uses the discovery process to learn how clients think about money.  The process allows him to help clients develop plans that create balance between their past experiences and their financial goals. He is excited to help individuals of all ages and backgrounds work toward achieving financial freedom. Caleb also actively working to attain his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM (CFP®) Designation in his continued efforts to expand his financial planning knowledge.

Fun Facts About Caleb

Caleb continued his athletic career at Juniata College as a pitcher for the baseball team. He maintains an active lifestyle by regularly attending the gym and playing basketball with friends. He also frequently travels home to Phillipsburg, Pennsylvania to spend time with his family, and to entertain his energetic yellow Labrador Retriever, Spirit. Caleb taught himself how to play the guitar at an early age and loves to listen to other musicians hone their craft. He and his fiancé, Rachael, are currently planning their wedding for the spring of 2021 and look forward to spending their special day with family and friends. Caleb regularly attends the South Hills Bible Chapel and looks forward to opportunities to share his faith with others.
